We all love to treat ourselves to a nice relaxing vacation to recharge the batteries and switch off from work. But with so many of us being pet parents and looking after our furry friends, how do get away from the daily grind? Thankfully, there are many pet-friendly hotels in California that allow you to take your furry kids with you. For the purpose of this post, we are going to focus on luxury pet-friendly hotel stays in The Golden State of California. (We’ll cover some more affordable options in a future post).
Radisson Blu, Anaheim
The Radisson Blu in Anaheim features an outdoor swimming pool, a fitness center, a restaurant, and a bar in Anaheim. This beautiful 5-star hotel offers a 24-hour reception desk, free WiFi, an ATM, and private parking which can be arranged for an additional fee.

Featuring ski-in/ski-out access at Northstar California, this luxurious 5-star resort offers a spa, 2 outdoor swimming pools, and 3 restaurants. The famous Kings Beach on Lake Tahoe is only a 15-minute drive away.
The hotel is pet-friendly and has a hot tub, fitness center, and spa treatments. Reno-Tahoe International Airport is a 1 hour drive away.

Pendry, San Diego
Pendry, San Diego is in a wonderful location, just over a mile from the USS Midway Museum and 600m from the San Diego Convention Center. The 5-start hotel features a restaurant, outdoor swimming pool, a fitness center, and a lively bar. The pet-friendly hotel offers a 24-hour front desk, room service, and luggage storage for guests when checking in or out.
A select number of rooms have private balconies while all rooms come with free WiFi available.
Balboa Park is 2.4 mi from the hotel, while San Diego Zoo is 3.1 mi away. The nearest airport is San Diego International Airport, 2.5 miles from the hotel.
A 2-night weekend stay in a superior king will cost you $1,875 excluding breakfast but including taxes and charges. If you are bringing your dog with you there may be some additional charges so be sure to let the hotel know in advance.
Fairmont Grand Del Mar, Carmel Valley
Located within Los Peñasquitos Canyon, this 5-start resort offers free transportation to and from the coastal towns of Del Mar, La Jolla, and Solana Beach. The hotel boasts exclusive shops, free fitness classes, and a fully-equipped fitness center among many of its facilities.
The pet-friendly hotel features four outdoor pools, tennis courts, six restaurants, a golf course, and a spa. Dual marble sinks, private bathrooms, feather-down pillows, flat-screen cable TV, and free WiFi are provided in all rooms.
French cuisine and an extensive wine list are served at Fairmont Grand Del Mar’s Addison Restaurant. Featuring a patio with outdoor dining, Amaya Restaurant serves Mediterranean food onsite.
Some nearby attractions include SeaWorld San Diego, approx. 12 miles from the hotel, Gaslamp Quarter shops, and San Diego International Airport are within 30 minutes drive of the hotel.
If you want to spend a weekend here in April 2022 it will cost $1,636 with all taxes included. Breakfast is an additional $35 per person.
Casa Del Mar, Santa Monica
Pet-friendly hotels have been around for some time in Santa Monica and this oceanfront hotel welcomes your furry friends with open paws. The Casa Del Mar features two on-site restaurants and has a hydrotherapy tub in every room. It offers an outdoor pool and hot tub. For shopping addicts, the 3rd Street Promenade is a 5-minute walk away.
Hotel guests can work out for free in the fitness room and can arrange for the hotel’s private trainers to elevate their fitness levels. This does cost extra but it might be worth it if you plan on flexing your muscles at nearby Venice Beach (15 minutes by car). If you’re staying for business then the hotel’s Business Center has fax (If you know what that is!) and photocopying services located on-site. Los Angeles International Airport is 14.5 km away.
All of the pet-friendly rooms include a coffee maker, a mini-bar, and ironing facilities.
Catch restaurant serves a menu of fresh seafood and is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The weekend brunch has live music every Sunday afternoon. 180-degree views of the pacific ocean and nightly music await if you visit The Terrazza restaurant.
